The entire process of living in Zimbabwe is something of a risk at the moment, so you might think that there would be very little appetite for supporting Zimbabwe's gambling halls. Actually, it seems to be functioning the opposite way, with the critical market circumstances creating a higher desire to play, to try and discover a quick win, a way out of the difficulty.

For almost all of the citizens surviving on the abysmal local wages, there are two established styles of gaming, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lotto where the chances of succeeding are remarkably tiny, but then the prizes are also remarkably big. It's been said by financial experts who look at the idea that the majority do not purchase a card with the rational assumption of profiting. Zimbet is centered on either the local or the British football leagues and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe's gambling halls, on the other shoe, cater to the extremely rich of the country and travelers. Up until recently, there was a very substantial tourist industry, founded on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The market woes and connected conflict have cut into this market.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has only slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which offer table games, one armed bandits and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer slot machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling halls and the aforestated alluded to lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a pools system), there are also two horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the market has shrunk by beyond 40% in the past few years and with the connected deprivation and bloodshed that has cropped up, it isn't understood how healthy the sightseeing business which is the backbone of Zimbabwe's casinos will do in the next few years. How many of the casinos will still be around till things improve is merely unknown.
